Visitors Invitation Gala Day

On Sunday 7th September 2014, Burghfield Bowls Club invited the 16 Bowls Clubs who had kindly made a donation towards the building of our new green to send two representatives to our Visitors Invitation Gala Day.  Eleven Clubs were able to join us on the day.  The format comprised eight teams of rinks with each team comprising the members of two clubs.  All teams played two matches of ten ends.

At the end of a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon’s bowling the visitors were entertained to a high tea, including cream and jam scones, provided by the members of Bowls Club.

Sponsors who provided funding towards the new green project were also invited to the Gala Day; these included West Berkshire Council who are joint partner with Greenham Common Trust of the Vibrant Villages Scheme.  Burghfield Residents Association, Spratley’s of Mortimer and Sport England.

Chris Goss (Club Chairman) thanked the Clubs for their generous donations which had kick started the Club’s initiative to take forward the new green project.  He also thanked the Sponsors for their continued support.  As recognition of the support received the Clubs and Sponsors were each presented with a Certificate of Thanks.
