It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Roy Belcher. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family at the stroke of midday on Monday 11th August 2025. He had recently suffered the effects of cancer, yet was happy and still cracking jokes before his passing. He was able to say he’d had ‘a very good life’ and was grateful for his family care over the last couple of weeks.

Many may not know that he was a founder member of Burghfield Bowls Club in 1990 and enjoyed his 30 years of playing before health issues meant he had to recently retire from the game, although he still turned up at times to see his sons play.

Joan, his wife of over 66 years, and four sons will make arrangements for the funeral in due course.
